You have finished a character. You can work a magic ring, count a round, and close a piece without it going lumpy. What you want now is to keep practising without committing another three evenings to a full plushie.
What makes these worth doing
Each piece introduces something the beginner characters do not cover: a colour change at a specific point, a scalloped edge, a lift off lid, a standing collar, or working flat in rows rather than around in a spiral.
That last one matters more than it sounds. Amigurumi is worked in a continuous spiral, so if you have only made characters you have never met a turning chain. Flat pieces are where that arrives, usually with no warning. Our guide to spirals versus joined rounds explains the difference.
