Holding a hook and yarn, the magic ring, single crochet, increase, decrease, invisible fasten off, hiding the yarn tail, counting the stitch, counting the round, right and wrong side, attaching the eyes, sewing, stuffing, and closing the piece.
That means there is no wrong first character. What changes between them is what each one adds on top: slip stitch and chain, colour changes, embroidery.
