The story of Yon Crochet

Every character began as a feeling

Born from childhood movie nights, an immigrant dream, and the quiet magic of pushing through. Welcome to Yon World.

Y Vy, founder of Yon Crochet Chapter 1

The dream that crossed an ocean

Hi, I'm Y Vy, founder of Yon Crochet. I moved to Canada at 19, alone, on a student visa, chasing one dream: to become a designer. I graduated in multimedia design with a heart full of ideas and a resume nobody wanted. Most of my school years were spent on long shifts in a ramen kitchen, and when the rejection emails started piling up, the stress got heavy enough to carry everywhere.

Learning to crochet Chapter 2

The night the hook finally caught the yarn

That's when I found crochet. And honestly? I struggled with that too. The tutorials were confusing, the materials weren't made for beginners, and I kept undoing more stitches than I made. But somewhere between the frustration and the quiet, something clicked. I realized the problem wasn't me. Beginners just deserved a simpler, kinder way to learn. That thought became Yon Crochet.

Yon Crochet kits Chapter 3

Built from scratch, together

Founded in 2025 with my co-founder Yen Vy Hoang, Yon Crochet was built from the ground up: the characters, the all-in-one kits, the short guided videos, the learning platform, all of it designed so a complete beginner never feels lost. Everything you need arrives in one box, and every lesson is made to keep you moving forward, one small win at a time.

Where the characters come from

Every Yon character is a piece of our inner child

We grew up on animated movies: the brave little heroes, the shy dreamers, the sidekicks who were scared but went anyway. Those characters raised us. So when we created Yon World, we stitched them from the same thread: our childhood memories, our real struggles as immigrants and makers, and the stubborn hope that you can always push through. Each character carries a feeling we actually lived. Maybe you've lived it too.

Meet the cast. Flip their cards.

Front: the friend you'll crochet. Back: the struggle they carry and how they push through, straight from the Yon World story.

Left-handed from day one

Every launched lesson is filmed twice, including a fully mirrored left-hand version. No flipping the picture in your head.

Learn in your own language

Captions and audio in English, French-Canadian, and Vietnamese, because a first project is hard enough without a language barrier.

Yarn that will not split

Every kit ships with Yon Yarn, a 68% cotton and 32% nylon blend with no split ends, so your hook glides instead of snagging.

The hardest step is already done

Beginner kits arrive with the magic ring pre-started, so you begin with easy stitches and learn the tricky part once your hands are warm.

You earn while you learn

Lessons, streaks and finished projects earn Yon Coins, and those coins come off your next kit. The more you learn, the more you save.
